Calgary Opera opens its season with the dramatic tale based on the real-life, 16th-century German Dr. Johann Faust. First presented in Paris in 1859, this classic opera tells the story of the aged and bitter Dr. Faust, and the pact he makes with the devil in exchange for youth and earthly pleasure. Faust is one of at least 16 operas based on the Dr. Faust legend. Calgary Opera is proud to present this new production designed by Harry Frehner and Scott Reid as the kick-off to the 2008-2009 season.
