John Murrell, librettist for the unforgettable historical opera Filumena, once again turns his operatic hand to the themes of greed and crime, this time with composer
Bramwell Tovey. The Inventor is the true tale of a 19th century deceiver and international con man whose get rich quick schemes destroy the lives of his family, friends,
strangers and eventually his own self. Sandy Keith Jr. repeatedly re-invents himself to escape the perceived injustices of his youth and elude the consequences of
his arrogant sense of entitlement. His fugitive existence spirals to the volatile ending of the opera. Get caught up in the tragedy of self destruction. |
