Opera Tour
Calgary Opera's McPhee Artists bring the magic of live opera to schools, libraries, and community centres across Calgary and southern Alberta. These fun, fully-staged productions are crafted especially for young audiences and provide listeners with a deeper understanding of classical music, operatic singing, creative storytelling and the history and traditions of opera.

FEB 8–MAR 4, 2027
The classic tale of The Pied Piper (with a few twists) is brought to life through a delightful and charming children's opera. Calgary Opera brings the magic of opera directly into Alberta schools, libraries, theatres, and community centres.
These 45-minute, English-language performances also include a Q&A with the singers, and an in-depth study guide to support engagement before, during, and after the performance.

For distances outside greater Calgary area, a $50 travel fee is added.
RAT PACK ADD-ON
Bring your students further into the experience! This opera allows for up to 20 students to participate in the show in key chorus roles (non-singing or singing). The Rat Pack is available for an additional $250, and comes with:
- One 60-minute classroom visit with an opera teaching artist to teach your students the staging and music;
- A practice track for chorus vocals;
- A brush-up video with staging directions;
- A kit of DIY costume materials for students to build their own costumes;
- An optional cameo entrance for the principal, a teacher or staff member, or one additional student.
Students in the chorus will have up to 5 short entrances in the opera. They will be expected to practice their part with their classroom teacher so that they are confident for each entrance, which will be cued by the stage manager at the performance.
